Jose Castañeda, Clinical Mental Health Candidate
Jose (he/him) is a counseling student pursuing his masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS). Jose is eager to work with diverse populations to gain valuable experience and make the most of his learning opportunities as he work towards obtaining his license. He believes in the collaborative nature of the therapeutic relationship, where clients actively participate in their growth and healing processes. While his current foundation lies in person-centered therapy, he is enthusiastic about expanding his knowledge and integrating other evidence-based practices to meet each clients unique needs better. The person-centered approach utilizes a perspective that emphasizes empathy, unconditional positive regard, and genuineness. In his therapeutic practice, Jose prioritizes creating a safe, non-judgmental space where clients feel heard and understood.
As he continues his education and dives deeper into critical subjects, his unique background and cultural perspective will provide him with the strength and insight he can bring to his future roles and functions as a counselor. Jose entered this field sincerely to help others, recognizing no one-size-fits-all in counseling. He is committed to a continuous learning journey as the counseling field evolves and new challenges emerge. He is passionate about instilling equity and inclusivity as core values to help the underserved, underrepresented, and overlooked.
