Emily strives to invite individuals, couples, or families to come as they are, to feel safe, to bring the trauma, life stressors, anxiety and also life joys to a safe place. Emily understands that partaking in any therapy process can be challenging to start, and she commends you for taking the first steps to taking control over your life and mental health. Emily understands how important it is to provide a safe, comfortable, and relaxing environment for self discovery, healing, and growth. Emily specializes in counseling children, adolescents, and adults. Emily has obtained a degree in Professional Counseling, and provides a person-centered holistic approach to her therapy session. 

Experience

Emily has experience working with anxiety, depression, daily stress, grief, life transitions, understanding both bi-polar disorder and personality disorders, spirituality, and identity. She has eight years of working side by side with children, adolescents, young adults, and families in the mental health field.  These experiences consist of working with adolescents coming out of juvenile detention centers and foster care, while discovering who they are and creating new healthy goals and dreams for themselves. Emily has worked with community-based counseling organizations to provide the space for all individuals to have the opportunity to discover and feel accepted to be their true authentic self. She has experience working with individuals who have experienced trauma, abuse, and neglect in their life. Emily believes it is important to provide trauma-informed practice, and to allow each individual to go at their own pace to take control over their life and the healing process. 

Emily’s Message For Children And Adolescent Individuals Seeking Individual Counseling

Emily has experience with individual counseling and play therapy. She believes it is important to provide the style of counseling that is best for that individual. She will provide the space for you to come and be yourself. The goal is to create your own goal with the therapist, and learn more about yourself through processing past trauma and relationships, present situations, and future goals and dreams. Emily has integrated cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectic behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, and other evidence-based practice.   

Emily’s Message For Individuals with Trauma

Emily understands that this is a big step to start processing traumatic experiences that have happened in an individual’s life. In her words, your strength and resilience through this process is amazing, and it will help carry you through as you discover healing. Regardless of circumstances, Emily believes that individuals can discover a life that is full and free of pain and suffering. Even when it does not feel like it, this goal is attainable and she will walk with you in this healing process.
