Anna Duerst, Clinical Mental Health Candidate & Counseling Intern

Anna (she/her) is working towards her master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS). She is beginning her clinical internship journey and has experience working with adults impacted by trauma, mental health, incarceration, and substance use issues. She is also a Certified Addiction Technician and has worked within a residential treatment setting.

Anna approaches counseling from a person-centered perspective and also uses attachment theory to help her clients understand their relationship patterns. She prioritizes creating a non-judgmental, accepting environment where her clients feel seen, heard, and valued. Anna emphasizes the importance of authenticity and personal empowerment to help her clients attain their goals.

Anna has a special interest in working with couples to help them experience deeply satisfying relationships. Through developing trust and rapport, she aims to foster the vulnerable conversations between couples that open the door to healing and emotional connection. She enjoys supporting clients with their relationship goals and developing and reconstructing a strong sense of identity.
